Thousands of Torii leading the way to the mountain of God, telling the 1300 years of history

Fushimi Inari Taisha, which is located in Fushimi ward in Kyoto City, is the head shrine among total 3000 "Inari-san" shrines within the country.
The main hall is located in the foot of the Mt. Inari, the whole Mt. Inari is considered as sacred area.
For the first visit of New Year, Fushimi Inari Shrine attracts the most worshipers in the Kinki region.
Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto was chosen No. 2 in the “List of the most popular sightseeing spots in Japan for foreign tourists” section of Trip Advisor in 2013, and came out as No. 1 over Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum from survey in 2014.
In most working days, foreign tourists are more than Japanese tourists, and more and more foreigners climb Mt. Inari after night fall. Although lighting is installed near the main hall, and street lights are set up till the rear shrine, flashlight is needed on the way after that.
