- World Heritage Sites
ining the tiles from 1,400 years ago
This temple is said to originally be the Asuka Temple (Hokkoji), which was erected by Sogano Umako at the end of the 6th century. On one part of the roof of the national treasures Gokurakudo and Zenshitsu, there is a tile from the Asuka era called gyokifuki thatched. Additionally, the national treasures Gokurakudo and Zenshitsu are valuable remains that display the architectural style of the Kamakura era. In the Horin Museum, the wooden Gojushoto (national treasure) created in the Nara era, the wooden Amitabha statue and Chikomandara, and others are preserved.
