Japanese Garden in Daisen Park

  • 景點

Japanese traditional garden with a beautiful pond and stream, elegant houses and seasonally blooming flowers.

A Japanese garden with a total area of 26,000 square meters.
The gardening technique, an origin of Japanese garden, is said to be introduced in the Middle Ages, when Sakai prospered as an overseas trading base and various technologies and cultures were brought into the area.
Japanese garden in Daisen Park is designed in “Tsukiyama Rinsen Kaiyushiki” style using traditional techniques of building Japanese gardens and consists of three sceneries: “Togendai” on the southern hill, “Ishizukei,” which flows from south to north, and the northern lowland.
After passing under the gate made of Japanese cypress, you can find a resting place which imitates “Nayashu,” an assembly hall of Sakai’s wealthy merchants in the Middle Ages.
There are other spots such as “Ryuhaitei,” where you can see a curvy stream engraved in a stone of the Chinese mountain Kakazan, the birth place of Son Goku, and “Togendai,” where you can enjoy Nodate (tea ceremony in the open air) and Bonsai (a dwarf miniature potted tree).
After you walk along the mountain stream, you will arrive in “Kasatei.” You can experience Sakai’s culture and features while you enjoy the seasonal flowers and changing greens.
