Kobe City Museum

The building of “Former Yokohama Seikin Bank” built in 1935, was renovated and opened as Kobe City Museum in 1982. The museum’s central them is “international culture exchange, cultural contact of the east and the west and its change” and holds special exhibitions relating to this main them. The museum exhibits approximately 70,000 items including National Heritage of “Dotaku” (bronze bell) and “Douki”(bronze dagger-axe) from Sakuragaoka, historical materials on Southern Barbarians and Caucasians, ancient maps and glassworks. The permanent exhibition highlights six main themes and explains about Kobe and how Japan and foreign countries have exchanged their cultures.
