The island where Kokichi Mikimoto succeeded in culturing pearls for the first time in the world. On this island of approx. 24,000 ㎡, are the Pearl Museum, exhibiting decorative arts and a pearl jewelry collection, Kokichi Mikimoto Memorial Hall, the Pearl Shop and Ama Stand, where visitors can enjoy watching fishing demonstrations by ama, female divers, up close.
